Talking Book Library - Volunteer Program

Volunteers contribute over two hundred hours each month inspecting cassette tapes, sorting mail, shelving books, and engaging in other daily library activities and specialized tasks. Call Marilyn Stevenson at (727) 441-9958 for details on spending personally rewarding time as part of our service team.

Volunteer positions require from 1 to 3 hours, once a week, minimum 3 months commitment:

Book Buddy: Helps Talking Book patrons make book selection by reading catalog entries over the phone.

Book Inspector: Ensures that cassette books are complete, in good condition, and rewound for circulation to patrons.

Book Sorter: Sorts incoming mail into new books, warranty books, misdirected mail, and returned books.

Shelf Reader: Reads shelves to locate misplaced books.

Shelver: Shelves returned books.

Clerical Assistant: Helps prepare new reader packets; files annotation cards; labels envelopes and catalogs; and other clerical/library tasks as assigned.
