Please join
us in welcoming Laurie Talerico our new Assistant Librarian/Volunteer
Coordinator. Laurie comes to us from the Tampa-Hillsborough County Public
Library System where she has worked since 1995 as a Collection Development
Librarian. She has two Master’s degrees from Florida State University, one in
Library and Information Science and the other in Humanities.
Laurie’s interests include quilting, playing with her dog and three
cats, and planning her St. Patrick’s Day wedding.
We are
delighted Laurie has joined the Talking Book Library family and invite you to
speak with her when you call the library.
We also now
have a full time Office Manager, Jessica Coll. She joins Jenny in managing our
business office, processing warranty books, adding new Descriptive Videos to our
collection, and the myriad of details which must be accomplished every day to
keep our library running in good order. Jessica is a recent USF graduate and
comes to us after an internship in Washington, D.C. Please join us in welcoming
Jessica to our staff.

Please send
all book requests, changes of address, or other notifications regarding your
library services to the Pinellas Talking Book Library in Clearwater, not CMLS in
Melbourne. CMLS is a company responsible for publishing and distributing such
items as Talking Book Topics. Sending requests or messages to them only
delays the process of your orders. If you have any questions regarding any
aspect of library services or to whom you should submit requests for materials,
please call us.

FREE
LIBRARY SERVICES
We want to
remind all of our patrons that this is a free service and there is never an
application fee, annual dues or any other requirement for you to pay for your
library services. You may occasionally receive promotional materials in the mail
from a variety of organizations asking for money. Although they may make a
reference to library services, there is no connection between these
establishments and the Pinellas Talking Book Library. If you receive promotional
materials and have questions regarding their relationship with us, please call.
In each
newsletter we try to make you aware of other services which may enhance your
reading experience or assist in
daily living skills. Many times these services are provided by private
companies, some of whom may charge a fee or subscription dues. This is provided
as information only and is not endorsed by or part of the Pinellas Talking Book
Library.
C2 CASSETTE PLAYER RECALL
The National
Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped has issued an immediate
recall of their C2 cassette player which is gray in color. It is being recalled
because of a potential safety hazard. If you have one of these machines, unplug
it and do not use it again. Contact us for further instructions and for a
replacement C1 player.
We would
like to take this opportunity to wish each and every one of you a very joyous
new year. It seems like we were just ushering in the new millennium and it is
already one year later. There have been many changes at the Pinellas Talking
Book Library during the year 2000, some of which have been the move to our new
library building in Clearwater, several staff changes, and expansion of our
on-site collection. I am sure 2001 will bring other changes and growth for the
library. I would like to encourage all of you to share your ideas concerning the
direction of your library and how we may improve and expand services for you.
