of the Pinellas Talking Book Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped
We have recently had several staff changes at the PTBL Library. Harriet Thompkins is the Outreach Librarian. Harriet comes to us from the Pinellas Public Library Cooperative (PPLC) Answer Center where she was the “Librarians Librarian” for the past 5 years. Harriet will be contacting our deposit collections and institution patrons, visiting facilities not yet active with our library to encourage participation in our program, and manning the PTBL booth at local Health and Senior Fairs. Please look for Harriet when you are at a local event and welcome her to the PTBL team.
We also have two new Office Assistants: Kelly Anderson and Dyana Broussard. Kelly will be helping to manage the office, answer phones and greet walk-ins on Monday & Tuesday. Dy will be doing the same on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Kelly has a background in library service through her work at the Safety Harbor Public Library, where she continues to serve the public at the Reference Desk. Dy previously worked for the PPLC, then left the area for North Carolina when her husband returned from service overseas. They are now back in Pinellas County and we are glad she has joined us at the PTBL. When you call or come in, please welcome both to the PTBL.

Descriptive videos (DV) are selected contemporary and classic movies enhanced with narration that describes visual elements of the film including action, settings, costuming, and gestures. No special equipment is needed beyond a TV and VCR to play these videos.
